Because water makes up about 75% of our body. Water is the basis for all our body fluids, including blood, lymphatic fluids, and digestive fluids. Water is the largest source of energy in the human body. When the water moves into and out of our cells, produces a significant amount of energy. That is why, one of the symptoms of dehydration is very often fatigue. So hydrating properly is essential, because we want to make sure that the water we drink will actually penetrate our cells.
As we know, the nutrients are transported to our cells by our blood. The smallest blood vessels in our body are the capillaries. So, we have to make sure that the molecular size of the water we drink will actually penetrate these capillaries, so the maximum amount of nutrients will reach our cells.
